NAIROBI CITY TOUR

A tour of the Karen Blixen Museum situated at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The Museum was originally the home of Karen Blixen of the Out of Africa fame. The centre has a small herd of Rothschild’s Giraffe which are endangered specie and you will get a chance to feed them.

The orphanage is opened only one hour a day from 1100Hrs to 1200Hrs, 8 Kilometres drive from the city centre and it is set in the Nairobi National Park. The orphanage give you a rare opportunity to come close to baby elephant, the age vary from a few months to 3 years, each orphaned elephant is assigned its own keeper, who acts as a replacement mother and will stay with the elephant until it is re-introduced into the wild. The keeper as well gives a talk about the elephants, where they came from, how they are getting on, and how some of the previous orphans are progressing.

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to the floor of the Rift Valley stopping to marvel at the views of the escarpment along the way. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park for mid-morning game drive. Proceed for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. Another short game drive as you get out of the park and drive back to Nairobi arriving early evening.

HOT AIR BALLOONING

The adventure begins just before dawn. Flames from the hot air balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. The first, pink tongues of sunlight flicker across the skies and the hot air balloon fills then rises.
Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-coloured canopy, you’re off for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. Apart from the occasional hiss of the burners, a lion’s roar, elephants crashing through the bush, baboons perched in the tips of the trees startled and screeching to see something above them, the flight above the open plains is magically silent.
The thing that amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness, the silence as you float above the plains, the forest and the rivers of the Masai Mara and Serengeti. And if you’ve flown elsewhere, you’ve seen nothing like this.
At the end of the flight, the passengers are treated to a champagne breakfast in the bush, complete with flowers; bone china and crystal are set out on the table that is placed under a convenient acacia tree. The finishing touch to the flight is a game drive back to the lodge or camp, and the possibility of seeing the same pride of lions, or herd of elephants that had been viewed while ballooning.
